In honor of Black History Month, the One Heart, One Mind, Many Cultures Club hosted its very own Family Feud on February 12, 2024. The club brought this iconic game show to the Millennium room where students and faculty had the opportunity to learn more about Black culture.
Club members teamed up into families and went head-to-head for victory by fiercely answering questions about Black historical icons, figures, and important events. Surveys answered by Kellenberg students were used as the game’s “Survey Says.”
Junior Myranda Chamorro, a member of the winning family, shared, “My favorite part of the Family Feud was being able to learn more about the history I wasn’t aware of. Being able to compete with my friends while learning more as to why we celebrate this month was an amazing experience.”
Known as the “Steve Harvey” of the culture club, junior Karin Adetayo tells of his experience hosting the event: “Regardless of the funny and strong answers participants gave, it was thrilling when we had to go down to the final answers that decided the winning team. I was just happy so many people attended and enjoyed the event. I would love to do it again!”
Overall, the Family Feud session not only invited students to engage in friendly competition, but also gave participants insight to the cultural influences of African-Americans throughout history.
