On Tuesday, November 30th, the Kellenberg community took part in Giving Tuesday. With the Christmas season approaching, it is easy to get caught up in all the holiday stressors like decorating, baking, and shopping. Giving Tuesday is a worldwide movement that allows for people to take a pause from all the chaos and focus on doing good for the well being of others.
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to encourage communities to give back on this one particular day. Even if your actions are something as minuscule as smiling at a stranger, donating to the less fortunate, or assisting the elderly, they can all make a massive difference in a person’s day. By bringing joy to people, the joy continues to radiate onto others creating a chain effect. Through one person at a time, this one day can make the world a better and more joyful place.
At Kellenberg, in honor of Giving Tuesday, over 450 of Kellenberg’s students, faculty and alumni were generous enough to donate over $51,000 towards the Marianist community and Catholic education.
This movement truly fosters Kellenberg’s goal of enriching the hearts and minds of all students. Through the multitude of donations, the Marianists have the opportunity to provide students with a warm and welcoming school environment.
But more important than all of the materials donated, the Kellenberg community has grown in love for one another, and that is more valuable than anything money can buy.
