On December 4, Kellenberg’s Entrepreneurship Club traveled to St. Joseph’s University to compete at the Ready, Set, Lead Business Competition.
The annual competition is a unique opportunity for high school students interested in business-related topics, ranging from sports marketing to business design, to take their skills to the next level. Sophomores Francesca Stein and Simone Teichman, members of Kellenberg’s Entrepreneurship Club, journeyed to St. Joseph’s to present their research regarding a current problem in Healthcare.
Simone and Francesca started the day by participating in a professor-led workshop that helped them understand their personalities in correlation to careers best fit for them. After the debut, we both signed up for a short workshop that helped delve into our qualities, personalities, and pick out the future careers best fit for us,” shares Simone. “I personally found the workshop very useful and I loved how engaging the professor of the workshop was.”
In their presentation to a panel of judges, the girls suggested improvements to Northwell Health’s advertising strategies, specifically methods that would increase the number of patients visiting Northwell Go Urgent Care Clinics. They highlighted the underlying importance of a primary care practitioner and the long-term benefits unique to Northwell Health, which prioritizes creating long-term bonds with patients and investing in a primary care practitioner.
Frankie and Simone also suggested tailoring Northwell’s social media pages to gain appeal in varying age groups: Instagram for short engagement in youths and Facebook for older generations. For their outstanding performance, the girls took home a Bronze medal.
Regarding their preparation for the competition, Frankie shares, “The competition was a great learning experience, as it was the first competition of its kind that I had even been to. It involved a lot of teamwork to assemble the presentation and we practiced a lot beforehand. I was definitely surprised when we placed, but I was proud when we did.”
The girl’s hard work set a precedent for the future competitions the Entrepreneurship Club intends to compete at.
