On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the Boys Sophomore Track & Field Team had a fantastic turnout at the NSCHSAA Championship Meet.
Ethan Linzey was a triple-medal winner achieving gold in the 400 meter, silver in the 100 meter, and later won another gold medal alongside teammates Kyle Bosch, Oscar Nunez, and Daniel Meenan in the 4×400 relay.
Kyle Bosch also found great success finishing third place in 200 meter and fourth in the long jump. Amir Ajenishe was a double medalist, finishing in second in the steeplechase and third in the 3200 meter run. Ajenishe also set a personal record time of 11:20.88 in the steeplechase.
The team pushed themselves to new limits at the meet, with William Howe setting a new personal record of 10.80m in the shot put. Keron Faustin and Daniel Carredu both set personal records in the 110 meter hurdles. In the 800 meter, Daniel Meenan cruised to a victory, setting his personal record time at 2:01.98.
Runner Jonathan Florita said, “Our relays contributed a lot to the overall score.” Fine efforts were also exhibited by Kaleb Dyasi, Aiden Dumornay, and Justin Lopez in the 4×100 meter relay, contributing to the Kellenberg’s overall score of 40 points at the meet.
Coach Estrella said about the team’s performance, “I’m really proud of how the team is progressing, and I think they have the potential to become a champion team in the future.” The team’s hard work paid off and they ended their season on a strong note.
