On October 14th, members of the Class of 2025 started their weekends off with the Sophomore Dance.
The dance was organized by students in the Sophomore GSO, who helped to create the theme of Tropical Fun by voting on a Google Doc. They also created promotional posters to bring attention to the dance.
The night started at 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria, where students were greeted with Hawaiian leis and sunglasses to match the night’s theme. They signed in with their homeroom for the chance to win a bagel breakfast for best homeroom attendance, which 10P – Mrs. Robinson’s homeroom – won. Second place was tied between 10C, Miss Green’s homeroom, and 10G, Mrs. Fiore’s homeroom.
Students were also encouraged to wear festive shirts to the dance, for which they could win a best dressed award. These awards went to Lauren Debello-Tahany from 10D and Colton Wrage from 10Q.
The fun really began with Mr. O’Brien, aka DJ OB, playing music in the Queen of Apostles Courtyard. The courtyard also had games such as can jam and corn hole as well as tables of drinks and snacks for the students.
The party ended at 9:30 PM, after two and a half hours of fun. The night was a huge success, with approximately 120 sophomores in attendance.
Sophomore Gianna Siasoco reflected: “My favorite part of the night was being able to be with my friends outside of classes.”
