This past fall, Kellenberg partnered with Molloy University to make two college business courses available to students in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade. These courses are entitled Principles of Management and Principles of Marketing.
Classes were held at Kellenberg on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and they were taught by Molloy professors Pete Palazzo and Roseanne Lavelle.
Enrolling in either of these courses carried great benefits for Kellenberg students, regardless of whether they are interested in pursuing a career in business.
When asked about the benefits of taking these courses, Mr. Heitner, the faculty coordinator of the Molloy business courses at Kellenberg, stated, “The courses save time, money, and look great on college transcripts.”
Students who took either of these classes will find their college experience to be much easier.
Upon completion of the course, students will receive three college credits that serve as a great advantage when applying to college and later managing classes as a college student. In addition, obtaining college credits while in high school can reduce course workload once in college.
Taking these courses can also have a beneficial financial impact on the student.
The classes were offered to Kellenberg students at a highly discounted price compared to taking them while in college.
Students who complete both courses and later attend Molloy University can receive an extra $1000 off tuition per semester.
Junior Debra Destil shares her experience in the course,”I was involved in both the Business 2010 and the Marketing 2300 Molloy college course. I enjoyed it entirely. It helps you acknowledge the way different corporations operate. Our professor taught us many management and marketing skills. For example, our class was broken into groups of five and each assigned a well known company. We would then act as representative’s to present to the class. Overall, there are many different benefits given by this college course.”
The Principles of Management and Principles of Marketing courses will once again be available to students during Molloy’s spring semester later this year. Students interested in taking these classes can contact Mrs. York or Mr. Heitner for details.
