On February 9th, the Kellenberg Varsity Cheer Team traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship. The vigorous competition lasted multiple days and concluded on February 12th.
The cheerleaders competed in two different divisions with Medium Varsity taking on 58 teams and Large Varsity going up against 49. Although the team competed very well, they unfortunately did not make it to the semifinal round due to a few mistakes and two injured cheerleaders.
Coach Meisse said, “This team made the best of a difficult scenario going into such a fierce competition. I am proud of how the girls rallied and worked through these obstacles with a positive attitude.”
Senior Ava Harkin, one of the cheerleaders who competed, expressed the same positive attitude: “I was so lucky to be a part of the most special experience with the hardest working team. Through all of our obstacles this season, it is the best feeling to perform in Disney one last time and see our hard work pay off.”
The team’s dedication and commitment is certainly very admirable and inspiring.
