On Monday, February 14, members of the Yearbook Club held a Valentine’s Day-themed advertising event after sodality for this year’s Blue and Gold Yearbook, themed, “This Is Our Moment.”
Over the past week on announcements, staff members have been encouraging students to drop by the Yearbook office, scan a QR code, and get free candy. This QR code allowed students in grades 6-11 to send a reminder to a parent or guardian to buy a yearbook. Anyone who orders a yearbook before February 18th will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win gift cards to either Amazon or Dunkin’ Donuts.
“Our original idea was to advertise the yearbook by handing out papers saying, ‘Hey! You’re on page…’,” started senior Logan McCann, one of the editors. “Then we turned those into valentines and started to advertise this event with candy. And what kid doesn’t want candy?”
To prepare for the influx of students, the staff members decorated the hallway outside the Yearbook Office with balloons and streamers. They played music, put up a giant QR code, and held large baskets of candy.
Freshman Emily Artese, a member of the Yearbook, said, “I think that this is a very good way to sell yearbooks and show people who we are and what we do in Yearbook. This is very good publicity for us.”
The Yearbook Club is still open to anyone in grades 9-12 who wishes to join. The club is moderated by Mrs. Harnisch, Mrs. Egan, and Mr. Benintendi. Members can come in any day of the week or work at home to create spreads that showcase the school’s activities throughout the year.
