Kellenberg hosted another successful Day of Giving for the 2024-2025 school year on Tuesday, March 18. This special celebration allows students and families to give back to their Kellenberg community and embrace the Firebird spirit.
The day began with a morning show of the graduating seniors, where they presented their senior class gift of $6,919 and expressed their gratitude towards all of Kellenberg’s donors.
Seniors shared the impacts of the new Firebird Center for Arts and Athletics on their extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
Senior Griffin Strauss, a speaker during the show, shares, “I felt honored to stand on that stage and represent my senior class. This school is truly a remarkable place that deserves endless support. Seeing this school grow has been a source of great joy.”
This year’s Day of Giving held a specific importance since it allowed Kellenberg to highlight massive improvements, including a new turf softball field and the ever-expanding curriculum, among the advantageous FCAA. The FCAA has become an extraordinary additive to Kellenberg, consisting of golf simulators, bowling alleys, batting cages, soundproof music rooms, and so much more.
Following the presentation, homerooms participated in a ‘homeroom connections’ activity where they created posters expressing what they love about Kellenberg. Students also got to wear their favorite Kellenberg hoodies and shirts throughout the day instead of their blazers and were able to go into the gym during their lunch period for a time of raffles and fun. The “giving arena” consisted of games, music, a photo booth, and raffles; prizes included a television, scooter, Islanders and Mets tickets, subway series tickets, gift cards, and AirPods, among numerous other items.
Kellenberg has currently raised over $209,065. While there is no monetary goal, there is a donor goal in place of 1,300 donors. Astoundingly, Kellenberg has currently reached 87% of that goal.
Mr. Cioffi, Director of Communications, is a proud enthusiast of the Day of Giving and shares, “The Day of Giving is such a positive and fun experience for the future of Kellenberg and its students. Kellenberg has been a staple in the Catholic school community since 1987. Days like this allow it to spread its wings even more and create more amazing opportunities.”
For Kellenberg, this day testifies to the strong community at Kellenberg where so many students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni are willing to give back to the school.
