On October 20th, the Kellenberg Memorial family celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Pillar. The feast celebrates when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to the Apostle James the Greater while he was evangelizing in Spain and is the first recorded Marian apparition.
Archbishop Christopher Cardone was the celebrant of the Mass. He is archbishop of the Solomon Islands and the brother of Kellenberg’s own Fr. Thomas Cardone, S.M.
The Gospel spoke about how Jesus is the Bread of Life and how faith in Him feeds our souls. During his homily, Archbishop Cardone welcomed his father to the Kellenberg family. Archbishop Cardone also spoke about how the mother of Brother Michael Gillen, S.M., had given a prayer card to Fr. Tom and Brother Michael when they were discerning their vocation to the Society of Mary. The Kellenberg student body was given their own prayer cards with the prayer “A Meditation” by St. John Henry Newman on it.
Lastly, Archbishop Cardone spoke about the importance of human life from conception to natural death, especially as October is Respect Life month.
The Kellenberg Memorial family is thankful to Archbishop Cardone for celebrating a beautiful Mass on the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar.
