On Friday, October 8, Biology Week concluded with a celebratory Kahoot hosted by Miss Sindone. To those unaware, Kahoot is a popular app and website used by schools worldwide that offers the ability to create and distribute trivia questions. Members of the science department offered a set of inquiries to test the participating students’ knowledge on biology.
The Kahoot included questions from all aspects of the subject, such as ecology and anatomy. One of the displayed questions wrote, “If a secondary consumer is removed from an environment, what will happen to the primary consumers?” to which the answer would be “Population will increase.” Another example is “Fats, cells, and cholesterol are all examples of what category of macromolecules?” The correct answer is “Lipids”.
The gathering served as a thrilling pastime to all who were involved. Twelve students attended and out of that bunch, freshman, Joseph Estrella, grabbed first place.
Biology Week came and went, but the events will stick in the hearts of all who participated. Miss Sindone is proud to see the spread of the love for biology, and stated, “It’s fun to see how biology can be fun and this week has been a testament to that.” No words can describe the impact this will ultimately leave in the classroom. If students are learning and enjoying themselves while doing it, then the activities from this past week can only be viewed as a colossal success.
