Fine arts week commemorates the creativity of Kellenberg students and the ability to express oneself. During this period, artwork is displayed throughout the lobby to celebrate the Firebirds’ artistic prowess. This collection consists of various student drawings organized in different sections and on boards. Each section contains topics or subjects that served as the basis for the art.
Mrs. Lapelosa, a Latin Teacher, stated regarding Fine Arts Week: “I love seeing the vibrant paintings on display. Kellenberg is truly a wonderful place to grow.”
The lobby features drawings of animals, buildings, celebrities, perspectives, and more. These detailed drawings demonstrate the talent of the artists. The perspective drawings of buildings are particularly striking. These pieces show structures from unique angles. Perspectives are difficult to execute, as proportions must be precise to maintain visual quality. Each building was colored according to the artist’s preference, and every piece of art throughout the section is original and unique.
The student artwork in the lobby is excellent, reflecting well on the firebird artists in the building. The artists likely appreciate Kellenberg and the opportunity to showcase artwork, creativity, and skill.
Another interesting topic is the “Starry Night” section. Although the drawings share a similar subject, each is colored differently or features slight variations. This variety allows artists to express themselves through the work.
A few students also painted Egyptian gods. Similar to the “Starry Night” pieces, each drawing of the same god contains similarities but with differences in coloring, shading, and positioning. These drawings are notable for the use of watercolors rather than crayons or pencils, which might be considered more typical art utensils. Overall, this year’s Fine Arts Week by Kellenberg Memorial High School was a success in commemorating student creativity and skill through art.
