This October, the annual celebration of Chemistry Week commenced at Kellenberg. While Chemistry enthusiasts around the country observed the importance of this field, the Firebirds took this year’s theme of “Fabulous Fibers” into their own hands.
Throughout the week of October 17th – 21st, Kellenberg’s Chemistry students had the opportunity to partake in this nation-wide festivity. The Chemistry Department organized numerous activities, including Chemistry Bingo, tie-dying in Fashion Club, as well as unique lab experiments.
Chemistry Week was established in 1986 as a way to better educate the public on the role of chemistry in our daily lives. The main idea has been to provide students with educational yet entertaining activities that spread the significance of Chemistry in our world. This year, each of the science teachers put their own spin on things. Whether it be wearing chemistry-inspired shirts or decorating classrooms, the focus of Chemistry Week never wavered.
