On Thursday, April 27th, the Kellenberg family held Mass celebrating St. Gianna Molla.
St. Gianna Molla, who lived in the 20th century, was a Catholic wife and mother. Gianna was known to be extremely selfless, living a truly virtuous life. During her fourth pregnancy however, doctors discovered that Gianna had uterine cancer. Ultimately, Gianna would save the life of her child even at the cost of her own life. Today St. Gianna is seen as a prominent figure in the fight against abortion and is an example to young Christians.
Fr. Duffy of St. Agnes parish in Rockville Centre made the trip to Kellenberg to help students celebrate this important Mass.
Sophomore Amanda Punturieri reflects that, “It is super important to realize that saints didn’t only live thousands of years ago. St. Gianna lived less than 100 years ago. This mass really puts that idea into perspective.”
This Mass celebrated an accessible, modern saint for students to celebrate.
