On September 21, 2023, Kellenberg Memorial hosted its Opening Mass, celebrating Marianist Martyrs. Father Daniel Griffin S.M. celebrated Mass in the auditorium for upperclassmen, and was accompanied by Father Matthew Brown.
Father Brown is a Kellenberg alumnus, priest under the bishop’s representative for the Office of Catholic Education, and the Director of Evangelization for our diocese. We thank him for lending a helping hand in one of our first celebrations together this year.
For the Latin school, it was their second mass celebrated together. They all sang and participated, as they began to understand what Mass is actually about. Father Tom stated, “Celebrating the Marianist martyrs is an opportunity to recognize the fact that Christian’s are called to be all in when it comes to their faith.” Kellenberg Memorial is primarily a faith community. Every time we celebrate the sacred mysteries, we are called to remember who we are, namely sons and daughters of the living God.
Catherine Fuentes ‘24 stated, “We are blessed to have such amazing teachers and guidance to bring us closer to our faith life on top of wonderful Mass’ together as one family.”
This Opening Mass has paved the way for an amazing school year as we look forward to many more school wide masses to come.
