On January 30th, Kellenberg Memorial finished off the shortened week with a mass celebrating Founders Day. The school community will not be in school Friday for this reason, as Kellenberg celebrates the individuals who founded both the school and the Marianists themselves. This was the highlight of the Thursday mass; in the auditorium, sophomores, juniors, and seniors gathered for the celebration of the mass with celebrant Father Dan.
In his homily, he spoke of the significant individuals who contributed to making Kellenberg what it is today. This especially refers to Blessed Adele de Trenquellion and Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, to whom Kellenberg students often offer their prayers in hopes that they will soon be canonized by the Church. They both helped to establish the Marianist sisters, as well as the Society of Mary.
Father Dan spoke of how vital these two Catholic figures were, being that Kellenberg is rooted in the Marianist tradition that they began; he reminded students to remember the contributions of both of them and to live out their legacy in their lives. The homily also reiterated the importance of hope in this Jubilee Year of Hope for 2025. Students were taught of the vitality of hope in their lives and the significant role that it plays when challenges arise.
Regarding Founders Day Mass, Junior Shyla Shoen says, “I always enjoy Kellenberg masses, but I especially enjoyed this one because it was a great reminder of how blessed we are to be a Marianist school.”
