At the start of the new year, Kellenberg has offered its students a new uplifting initiative. Every week, students are given a new wellness tip to apply to their lives. Weekly Wellness has been implemented to promote the general well being of the student body. The weekly tips promote physical, spiritual, and mental health. This initiative is headed by Miss Riveiro, Mrs. Marconi, Mrs. Mulligan, Mr. Lyons, and Ms. Urbanski. Other faculty members also get involved as the topics change week to week. So far the topics have included disconnecting from technology to be more present, dressing properly to boost students’ feelings of well being, and being reverent during Mass to truly participate and reflect. Weekly Wellness has also worked in collaboration with the new Renew and Be True Initiative. Weekly Wellness hopes to spread a healthy positive culture and lifestyle throughout the building. The tips intend to help students de-stress and find a healthy balance in their school life.
In the past several weeks, there has been a definite shift in the student body. In Latin School, Freshmen and Sophomore homerooms students are now greeted each morning by their Senior leaders. Miss Riviero noted that they welcome every student and that this has led to the students becoming more welcoming and friendly to each other. She said, “I have definitely noticed a shift in the students and a better overall environment.” By adding these simple tips into the students’ daily lives there has been a great positive renewal throughout the school. The initiative will be running for the rest of the school year. Any student hoping to get involved can see Miss Riviero in guidance. With a new year and new beginnings, Weekly Wellness has offered students a way to achieve a healthier, more positive mindset.
