On Thursday, January 16, Kellenberg celebrated its first Mass of the New Year. This year is particularly special in the Church, as it is a Jubilee Year. The jubilee takes place every twenty-five years, with this year’s focus being Hope.
When Pope Francis announced the Jubilee of 2025, he stated, “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given to us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking forward to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart, and a far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire.”
As Catholics, we are called to live with hope. Hope is much more than an
emotion. It is spiritual in nature. Hope is essential for survival. Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ’s promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Before Mass, students were invited by members of the Marianist LIFE team to take a moment to pause and ponder a couple of questions: How are we called to live with more Christian hope? What areas of our lives need hope in God’s love? How can I bring hope to others? Senior Gabriella Cruz says, “Especially in the bad times, it is important to remember that Jesus will protect us. He is our hope.”
This year, Kellenberg looks forward to ushering in new faces come fall, and
continuing to preach the mission of One Heart, One Mind, through acting as pilgrims of Hope.
