On Thursday October 3rd, 2024, Kellenberg and Chaminade’s Marianist LIFE teams journeyed into New York City where they experienced Catholic Underground.
Hosted by the Franciscan Friars, Catholic Underground is held in response to Pope John Paul II’s call for youth evangelization. The LIFE teams began the night with Eucharistic adoration where they encountered Christ in a personal and raw experience. They prayed with hundreds of Catholics who share a similar love and reverence for Jesus. Following adoration, a “new evangelization” jazz social took place in the lower room, including a performance by John The Martyr band and an exhibition of art and poetry pieces.
Senior Ciara Bice, a member of the LIFE team, shares, “It was a very special experience seeing people of all different ages come together to worship in such a special way.”
Catholic Underground’s enriching night showed the seniors how they didn’t have to search far to find a fulfilling experience with other Catholics. Overall, the night allowed the seniors to see and profess their faith in a unique way.
