Junior Maureen Lewin ran to school Athletic history on Saturday at the New York State Track and Field Federation Indoor Championships.
Lewin not only broke Jazmine Fray’s school record in the 1000 meters by over four and one-half seconds in her third-place finish, but she also broke the all-time CHSAA record previously held by Olicia Williams. (Worth noting is the fact that Fray is the current NCAA female indoor record holder in the 800 meters, and Williams is the Baylor University school record holder.)
Lewin returned later to team up with Nora Bennett, Maya Richardson, and Julia Bryant to take fourth in the 3200 relay. Their time of 9:17.05 broke the previous indoor school record from 2010 held by A. Conroy, K. Pearse, M. Keenan, and K. MacKay.
Bennett earlier had run a breakthrough personal best 1000 meter of 2:57.16. Gillian Blackwood high jumped to a season-best of 5’0.
Lewin, and teammates Gabby Buissereth, Chrissy Foster, and Camryn Beckford currently still possess the nation’s fastest high school time in the Sprint Medley Relay.
