On March 1, 2022, Kellenberg Memorial High School celebrated the holiday of Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras, also called Fat Tuesday, is based on the practice of eating rich, fatty foods for a day prior to the fasting that takes place during Lent until the Easter season.
Members of the Kellenberg community celebrated by dressing up in traditional Mardi Gras costumes and handing students tickets for free candy during lunch periods. Accompanied with this were festive decorations in the hallways and cafeteria.
As Aidan Lacombe stated, “There was joy and spirit present in the room, and everyone was celebrating, yelling ‘Happy Mardi Gras!’”
As exhilarating as Mardi Gras is, we now direct our focus towards God as we fast and celebrate the Lenten season.
