Article by Phoenix writer Sophia Kelly ’26:
On September 13, the Kellenberg Mock Trial team set out on their first invitational of the year, the Yale Bulldog Invitational.
The team skillfully delivered examinations of the witnesses, presented their case, and introduced evidence in their greatest attempt to prevail in the debate. Though their valiant efforts were just short of what it took to win the case, the loss was not an accurate representation of their dedication and hard work.
This competition was also an opportunity for the new members of Mock Trial to get a taste of the skills and talents the more experienced members possess.
New member Amelia Campbell ‘26 stated, “As this was my first time ever competing, the Yale invitational taught me so much. We got to meet different people from different schools and it was such an amazing learning experience.”
The students didn’t spend the entire weekend in the courtroom, but also spent quality time with their peers. At Yale, the team toured the campus and visited the chapel where they celebrated mass.
Off campus, they explored the town of New Haven, Connecticut, and dropped by the birthplace of hamburgers. For more team bonding, each night the Firebirds had dinner together and were able to rewind and construct their strategy for the next day.
The Mock Trial team is extremely grateful to have been chosen to compete in this event and represent Kellenberg among some of the best of the best! If your interested in Mock Trial contact Mr. Cartier or go to room 211 on Wednesdays at 3pm.
