Fall athletes represented their teams on September 15 at the Fall Pep Rally, showcasing their school spirit by wearing their jerseys over their uniforms and competing against each other in various games.
The upperclassmen as well gathered in the gymnasium for their Pep Rally. The event opened up with the national anthem sung by Elena Brutus ‘24. Conducted by MC’s Grace Canade ‘24, Nicholas Moorer ‘24, and Rayven Rospide ‘24, the Varsity Spirit Rally kicked off with excitement. Emphasizing their spirit, the varsity teams’ spirit costume themes varied from Minions, to bananas, to babies, cowboys, and even Barbie. High energy ran throughout the gymnasium throughout the performances of the Varsity Cheerleading and Dance teams. Both the fall athletes and the rest of the students remained competitive, engaged, and excited.
Freshman and sophomore classes gathered in the auditorium. Each team sat together and prepared themselves for the upcoming competitions. The JV dance team started the event off with their new choreography to elevate the energy in the room. Then, the MC’s, Mike Anzelone ‘24 and Eoghan Walsh ‘24, announced the team’s first competition: two representatives from each team had to find a specific item within the auditorium.. The last group to return to the front with their item would be eliminated. The competition was intense. At one point, the JV football team and the JVB soccer team competed in a game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” to determine who would advance to the championship. Although the JVB soccer team was victorious in the battle, the team could not find their way to victory, as the JV volleyball team won the final scavenger hunt. The JV cheer team concluded the event with their exuberant routine, leaving everyone in great spirits. Sophomore Erin Devlin, member of the JV cheer team, stated after her performance, “Cheering in front of my classmates was a fun way to show school spirit.”
Lastly, but not least, the Latin School carried their spirit outside. Grace Power ‘29 and Grace O’Neill ‘28 joined together to sing the national anthem. MC’s Gabriel Blanco ‘24 and Gabby D’Orlando ‘24 led the Latin School in team bonding games, demonstrating just as much spirit as the upperclassmen.
At Kellenberg, school spirit is something we all share. Events such as the Pep Rally help us to come together and embody this spirit in every way. The Fall Spirit Pep Rally prepared the Varsity Football Team, as well as the 12th man student section, for Saturday’s Homecoming game against St. Francis Prep. Roll Birds!!
