On Friday, September 30, the cadet division embarked on a lovely pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Manorville. The sixth-grade class learned of the Shrine’s dedication to Mary, Queen of All Hearts. The morning began with a prayer service with singing provided by Latin School Jubilee Choir members.
With the help of their homeroom moderators and Senior Marianist Leaders, the students visited the Shrine to say a decade of the rosary and toured the different statues of the Saints.
The students were then given prayer booklets and walked the Stations of the Cross on the nature trails.
Cadet Jillian DeCandia discussed what she enjoyed from the Stations of the Cross: “I liked how we learned something new about each station, and the big statue of Jesus on the Cross was
really awesome.”
Later that afternoon, the students ate lunch together and were ecstatic to purchase items from the gift shop for their friends and family.
Senior Marianist Leader Ava Anzalone said “This retreat was one of the best things I’ve done at Kellenberg. I loved seeing the kids enjoy each other’s company and have fun as a group.”
The pilgrimage was a wonderful opportunity for all who attended.
