Showcasing all the hard work students put into their musical pursuits outside of the classroom, the annual Jazz Night was held on Friday, May 10 in the auditorium.
Firebird Swing, Latin School Jazz Band, Latin School Voces, and Fiddle Club performed this year. Each group was able to give those in attendance their own magical experience. The audience enjoyed renditions of iconic jazz hits by the Jazz Band and Fiddle Club, notably playing the soothing but energetic “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Freddy Mercury.
The Firebird Swing opened their portion with “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” which featured soloists senior Grace Muller and junior Finn O’Rourke. Additionally, soloists sophomore Julia Florio and senior Gabriel Blanco led the Swing into “Route 66”.
Sophomore Maeve Gately, a member of Firebird Swing, shares “I love performing in Jazz Night with Swing every year… All the groups are so talented, and overall, it was a great experience.”
Ms. D’Argenio led the Latin School Voces in upbeat jazz arrangements that left the audience’s feet tapping.
This year’s Jazz Night was particularly newsworthy because it was the first time the Latin School Voces performed.
The various musicians are grateful for all the ensemble directors who helped make this memorable night possible.
