In easily the most important game of the season so far, the Kellenberg Boys JV Basketball team defeated Chaminade on January 3rd by a score of 55-54.
As a team, the boys were lights out on their jumpers, notably going 8 for 10 from the free throw line and 7 for 10 from 3 point range. Leading the way were Carson Fessler and Matthew Connolly, both with 14 points. Brenden Gharagozlo and Jack Geoghan controlled the boards and the defensive side of the ball. Sealing the game was Stephen Kiernan Jr. with clutch free throws at the end of the game.
It truly was a full team effort, and the win brings the team 5-0 in league play. Coach O’Brien will not let this team slow down, and has stated their plans on using their early success as momentum. “This is the best start we have had in many years thanks to great team basketball.” Coach O’Brien says. “Offensively we have been firing on all cylinders and we have to continue to hit the big things to really make sure we have the best opportunity to make the most of what we got.”
The boys have laid out some of the most exciting games in recent history, and it looks to only be the start of this roster’s success.
