Kellenberg Memorial hosted its annual language week from March 6th to the 10th. Language week focuses on celebrating the different languages taught at Kellenberg, including Latin, Spanish, French, and American Sign Language. The week is a great opportunity for students to learn more about different languages as well as cultures around the world.
Throughout the week students were greeted by faculty and fellow students in the brightly decorated lobby.
Latin students were decked out in laurel crowns. Students from the Spanish club then dressed in sombreros and welcomed students by handing out stickers and saying good morning in Spanish. For French day, students wore brightly colored berets and passed out french stickers as students entered school. Students could take a picture in front of a scenic background, whether it be the Roman Colosseum or the Eiffel Tower.
To celebrate the week, an international rosary was prayed on Wednesday March 8th in various languages, including the three taught at Kellenberg.
Senior Livia Cigliano participated in the rosary, praying a Hail Mary in German. She notes that, “This experience was really fun for me. I take Latin at Kellenberg but have studied German for years so it was great to be able to share it.”
On Thursday March 9th, the Language Clubs hosted a Kahoot in the auditorium with seventy-five students participating.
Language week was a huge success as it gave students an opportunity to learn about the different cultures and languages around the world.
