On Friday, May 13th, Kellenberg Memorial hosted their annual Jazz Night. It was an impressive array of the many talents of Kellenberg’s music department. The eager musicians practiced in preparation for this night in which their hard work was on full display for all who were there. The audience enjoyed the popular jazz tunes played and sung by the four installments presented on Friday night. These were the Fiddle Club, Latin School Jazz Band, High School Jazz Band, and the Firebird Swing.
Notable moments from the night included, the High School Jazz Band’s performance of “Any Way You Want It” by the iconic Journey, the Latin School Jazz Band’s splendid production of George Vincent’s “Jazz Hero” and the Firebird Swing’s presentation of their new rendition of the classic “Route 66”, featuring scat battles between singers. Additionally, the High School Jazz Band had alumni join them for their final song of the night, a nostalgic note to end their installment on.
Kellenberg’s Jazz Night was a success in more ways than one. The audience received a night of entertainment, listening and swaying along to some of the most well known jazz tunes, while the performers were given a chance to showcase their full talents for an animated crowd!
