On January 10th, the Boys Varsity Basketball team won a thrilling league game on the road by a score of 76-74 over Saint Mary’s High School.
The team overcame a double digit deficit in the 2nd half to win the game.
Devin Page scored 27 points and had 16 rebounds, while Sean Cannon had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Leach scored 12 points and Thomas Jack had 8 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter.
“I am very proud of the team because they have been working tremendously hard,” started Coach Lyons. “A handful of games had the ball bounce the other team’s way with close losses. Against St. Mary’s, we were able to pull out a very exciting win on the road, which is very important in league play. I think the kids are starting to realize that the energy in basketball is contagious. Hard work is rewarded with the ball going in the hoop when you are doing all the little things really well, such as boxing out, closing out, and taking charges.”
The team looks to build off of the collective effort in their upcoming matchups and push towards the playoffs.
