Article by Phoenix writer Eva McLaughlin ’26:
On Wednesday, October 23rd, the freshman class participated in Kellenberg’s annual Freshman F.A.I.T.H. Day. The freshman F.A.I.T.H. Day is an opportunity for students to get to know the people in their homeroom on a social and spiritual level.
The acronym “F.A.I.T.H.” stands for “Freshman Ascending In Their Homerooms.” This was truly emulated throughout the day as the class of 2028 participated in both friendship building and faith activities with their homerooms.
The day started with a mass, said by Father Tom, in the beautiful new FCAA building. The freshman then fueled up with a hearty bagel breakfast. After this, the students were split up by homeroom and sent off to their different events. These events varied between athletic and faith oriented games. Flag football, soccer, A-ball and Jeopardy were just some of the many activities offered to the students. Homerooms came together and competed against other homerooms to win these games. Points were awarded to the homerooms that won, and at the end of the day these points were then tallied up to reveal which homeroom had won the most competitions. Homeroom 9P emerged victorious.
The day ended with all of the homerooms meeting in the auditorium for Eucharistic adoration. It was a perfect way to end all of the festivities by sitting in front of the blessed sacrament. Miss. Doodian, a freshman homeroom teacher, recapped the fun-filled day perfectly by saying, “It was a beautiful day to grow in faith and bond with your homeroom.” A freshman that was interviewed stated how much fun they had meeting their fellow classmates and getting to know people outside the classroom setting.
Freshman F.A.I.T.H. day is a perfect example of the impact that Kellenberg has on the spiritual health of its students. As the class of 2028 continues on their High School journey, they will experience many more faith building experiences such as this one.
