For the past 30 years, Kellenberg has organized the Queen of Peace Advent Collection. This year it was held from November 30th through December 8th. On the last day of this event, members of Junior C.R.O.S.S. assisted in packing up the collected items and bringing them over to Queen of Peace Residence in Queens Village.
Kellenberg collected enough toiletries to provide for over 60 residents. The contributions of the Kellenberg students are always sincerely appreciated.
Through the years, the Marianists of Kellenberg have formed a bond with the Little Sisters of the Poor who run Queen of Peace. The Kellenberg community is always looking to do good for others, and while keeping in mind the giving spirit of the Christmas season, the Kellenberg family graciously donated much needed essentials to the elderly.
The students were encouraged to place items in the lobby to be donated. Whether it be bringing in toothpaste, soap, lotion, or other necessities, these items that may seem commonplace in our lives, are so genuinely appreciated by the Queen of Peace residents.
The Little Sisters go above and beyond to make the elderly feel at home, and they help each resident feel the presence of Christ in themselves.
Each year, the amount of items collected is astonishing. The willingness to give back is evident at Kellenberg, and the Little Sisters could not be more thankful.
