On Friday, December 6th, Kellenberg hosted its annual Magnificat dinner. This event for the young women of Kellenberg and the special women in their lives is named after the prayer offered up to God from Mary while she was greeting her cousin Elizabeth. It proclaims that God is merciful and always fulfills his promises. This dinner is hosted to remind us to lean on the Blessed Mother and these powerful women throughout our lives as we grow in faith.
Starting at 7:00 in the evening, the cafeteria filled with the sound of mothers and daughters arriving and greeting other mother-daughter pairs. Delicious hor d’oeuvres were offered to guests by members of S.A.L.T.
Once everyone was seated at their assigned tables, Mrs. York came to the podium at the center of the cafeteria and welcomed the attendees. She then introduced Erin Citrano, class of 2003, as the speaker of the evening. Mrs. Citrano, the principal of St. Martin De Porres Marianist School, spoke about hardships she had experienced in her life, and the words from Mary that got her through them: “Do whatever he tells you.”
Next, members of the Marianist LIFE team came forward and spoke about their favorite religious experiences at Kellenberg.
As a way of coming together, everyone joined in honoring our Lady by praying the Magnificat and a decade of the rosary led by students. Then, members of the XLT band sang “Hail Mary, Full of Grace”.
After dinner, Mr. O’Brien transformed into DJ OB and rocked the house to conclude this fun filled evening.
