On September 18, Kellenberg’s Grandparents Day Mass and Brunch for Juniors and Seniors took place once again. This annual event allows our students to appreciate their beloved grandparents, spending the day with them, fellow students, and staff members. Each year, numerous students and grandparents look forward to this Kellenberg Memorial tradition. It holds meaning for many and gives families a spiritual and personal connection.
Upon arriving at the campus, students and their grandparents gathered in the auditorium, eager for the Mass to take place. Father Daniel Griffin, the celebrant, took time to honor the wonderful grandparents present at the event. During the homily, he shared personal stories of moments spent with his grandparents, such as cooking with his grandfather. He reminded our students that the experiences of their grandparents can impact their lives.
Following the service, everyone headed into the cafeteria where they were seated at tables and served with breakfast staples. While sharing a meal, students and their grandparents spent quality time together and grew their relationships. This opportunity to bond makes Grandparents Day truly remarkable.
When asked what it meant to spend this special day with his grandparents, Junior Nolan Papagno replied, “It was a great way to be able to experience the Mass alone with my grandparents and better see how their faith guides them.” In addition, Nolan’s grandparents said, “Grandparents Day is the fulfillment of our fondest hopes as parents.” Freshmen, Sophomores, and their grandparents are encouraged to visit the Kellenberg campus on Sunday, October 2nd for their Grandparents Day session and Latin School students on Sunday, October 16th. Come find out what this special day is all about and appreciate our wonderful Kellenberg grandparents!
